What Does a Beta Reader Actually Do?
You read.
That’s it.
You are NOT being asked to copyedit my grammar, hunt commas, correct spelling, or turn yourself into an unpaid publishing professional.
I have professionals for that.
I need your experience as a reader.
As you read, you can leave comments inside our private Ruzuku Beta Readers Circle.
Tell me what landed.
Ask questions.
Tell me where I skipped three mental steps because something was perfectly obvious inside my own head.
Share an experience that the chapter brought to mind.
Or simply read the chapter and click Mark as Complete.
There is no comment quota.
You do not have to have something profound to say every week.
Sometimes, “Yep. This worked for me.” is plenty.
How This Works
September 1 – December 15, 2026
Beginning in September, I’ll release chapters in groups, generally on Sunday mornings.
You’ll receive an email from RWR Beta Readers letting you know when the next material is ready.
Click the link.
It will take you directly into Ruzuku.
Read when you have time.
Join the discussion if you have something to say.
Because this is a shared conversation, you’ll also be able to see what other beta readers are noticing and discussing.
You can follow along week by week…
or
wait until more of the manuscript is complete and read larger sections together.
The full manuscript should be available toward the end of October.
November 15th is our official finish line for beta-reader comments.
And if life happens and you need a little more time?

What I’m Asking From You
I want your honest response as a human being reading the book.
Not what you think an editor would say.
Not what you think I want to hear.
What happened inside YOU while you read it?
Where did you nod?
Where did you disagree?
Where did something finally make sense?
Where did you want to put the book down and stare out the window for a while?
Where did you think:
“Janine, you need to explain this.”
That is enormously useful to me.

Beta reading is free, but I want to thank the people who help me bring this book into the world.
Readers who contribute comments and suggestions during the process can be included in the book’s Acknowledgments.
If something you share inspires an idea I would actually like to quote or use in the book, I’ll ask your permission first and make sure we agree on the wording and attribution.

The Beta Reader Edition (This is where you “oooo” and “ahhhhh”. LOL!)
A special hardcover version showing more of the raw journey. This includes original material and artwork that will not necessarily appear in the final retail edition.
Beta readers will be able to order that edition at printing costs, plus shipping. (I will receive zero royalties for the purchase.)
You’ll also receive an invitation to our private VIP book launch and first access to the polished public edition when it is ready.
Mostly, though?
Years from now, you’ll be able to pick up Revenue Without Rush and say:
“I remember when she was still writing this part.”
I think that’s pretty cool.
One Small House Rule
Until the manuscript is complete, please treat what you’re reading as private working material.
You are absolutely welcome to talk about being a beta reader, what you are learning, or what the experience is bringing up for you.
Please don’t copy, quote, post, distribute, or share the manuscript itself while we are working on it.
Once the book is finished, we’ll have plenty to share.
